A lot of industries who have continuous and sequential process steps, are facing a problem in logistics between those steps. Often a process step is blocked. This leads to a machine that is not running, which is a waste of time and money. There are several use cases which can lead to a blocking process step:
· Waiting for the previous process step, whose output is our input. This could be because the box of the semi-finished products of the previous step is waiting to be transported to its next stage.
· Waiting for toolboxes, which are necessary to start the process. Those toolboxes are typically prepared in a centralized warehouse. Once the warehouse operator is finished with a toolbox, it should be transport to the work center of the process.
· Waiting for utility boxes (like trash, metal chips, oil, …) which should be emptied for the machine being in production. Once such a box is full, the machine will block until an empty box is mounted. This means that an empty box should be dropped off to the work center and the full box should be picked up at the work center for transport.
During the process step several actions should be registered like visual checks, quality checks, etc. This means that the operator needs an easy way to register these, for the current order.
Work procedures which are easily accessible are helpful for the operator before, but also during the production process
